Music from Stillwater DOES Exist

You’ve probably watched Almost Famous. If you haven’t, watch it. The main band that is toured with, Stillwater, was actually a fictional band. However, if you truly want to rock out to Fever Dog, you can! Yes, that’s right, Stillwater music is available on LimeWire. Actually, it is available on the Almost Famous: Untitled Bootleg Cut if you want to buy that. There are 6 songs in total, but the best one is easily Fever Dog.
In reality, the music was written by Peter Frampton, Cameron Crowe and Nancy Wilson, and performed by Frampton (and I think Eddie Vedder), so you’ll probably like it.
I’m surprised this isn’t talked about much more, but it is really cool that they made some songs for the movie. Enjoy Fever Dog.
Wayne’s World! Party Time! Excellent!
Aug 12, 2008 Movies
It came out in 1992, but this movie is one of the funniest out there. It’s based off a Saturday Night Live skit with Mike Myers (Wayne) and Dana Carvey (Garth). The movie is about a show that the two host on cable television, called Wayne’s World. Wayne eventually sells out, blah blah blah, happy ending. The movie just has that ‘awesome’ feeling though, so you really need to watch it.
It also has a sequel, in which Wayne is told by Jim Morrison to organize a huge concert called WAYNEstock. He tries recruiting a bunch of bands, hiring groupies (one is Chris Farly), and putting the show on. Meanwhile, Cassandra is getting married, and he has to stop the wedding. Personally, I like the second one better, but you’ll have to just go get both and watch them. They both rock.
And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve already seen it, but a few people haven’t, so we need to get them watching it! Party/game on!
Get Dazed and Confused
Aug 4, 2008 Movies
No pun intended. Dazed and Confused is a 1993 movie written by Richard Linklater that entails a band of high school students on the last day of school in 1975. The first great thing about this movie is the perfect soundtrack. Songs like School’s Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Sweet Emotions, and Slow Ride make this movie seem perfect. Also, it has a boatload of popular actors. Matthew McConaughey plays Wooderson - a high school graduate who works for the city but still hangs out with a bunch of guys in high school. Ben Affleck is in the movie too. He plays a jerk named O’Bannion who is really interested in paddling the incoming freshmen. In fact, the whole movie is about the initiation of the incoming freshmen, along with a solid party at the end. There is pot, alcohol, sweet cars, and hot women.
When you watch this (and you should…like tonight), get a pen and some paper because you’ll be wanting to download every single one of these songs after you see the movie. My favorite scene is when Mitch leaves the ballpark in right field and gets paddled with No More Mr. Nice Guy playing. Affleck is really good at being an asshole. There really isn’t much more to say about this movie, you just have to go watch it for yourself. People who lived in 1975 say that the movie really resembles how things were back then. Enjoy!
