I love Led Zeppelin! I hope they do an extensive US tour so that they play in a venue near me and also to hopefully keep ticket prices at a reasonable level.

Carnival of Rock and Roll September 1, 2008...

Man, am I glad that August is over. I don’t know about the rest of you, but it sure was a hectic month on my end. September is looking to be busy as well, if not busier, but hopefully there won’t be nearly as many surprises along the way....

The Doors were one of my favorite groups when I was in college. It would have been interesting to see what direction and evolution the Doors music would have experienced if they continued to make music later on through the 70s.

You could start to notice a difference in their style from their early work in the 60s, compared to what they were putting out in the early 70s. Then that was it... I guess we will never know.

Nirvana experienced a similar tragedy. Breakthrough band with everything going for them (at least musically), then the untimely death of the lead singer which destroyed the band.

Some bands are able to recover and replace the loss of the lead singer (death or quitting) and be fine, such as Van Halen's changes on mic, Drowning Pool and some other notable bands.

The Doors and Nirvana are exceptions. Morrison and Cobain were the band and would be impossible to merely replace. Without the lead singer, the band is done.

I have always been a huge Zeppelin fan. I grew up in the 60s and 70s so I got to hear a lot of their music when it was brand new. Here more than 30 years later I am still listening to Zeppelin
